The fight against food waste
There’s a lot of talk these days about packaging and its waste, but in addition to packaging, zero waste is also about what we consume and what we throw away, such as vegetable peels. Remember the Jerusalem artichokes we included in one of our recipesΒ at the beginning of the year. We had all used to make Jerusalem artichoke crisps in order not to waste them and to learn how to eat them differently.
So how to be avoid food waste daily ?
Benoo gives you some simple tips to avoid food waste:
π§ Onion and garlic peels contain more nutrients than the food itself. So use them as aromatic products when making homemade soups.
π₯¬ Leek heads can grow back. Simply put them in a jar with water.
π The peels of dried apples can be used to make tea. The acidity of apple peels can also remove stains from aluminum pots and pans.
π₯ Under- or over-ripe fruit can be made into compotes, jams, jellies and other syrups.
π₯¦ Broccoli leaves can be cooked and eaten like cabbage and cut stems added to salads.
π₯ Dry bread can be made into croutons, breadcrumbs, French toast or toasted sandwiches.
There are many applications such as Too good to go, Tafel-App, Foodsharing and instagram accounts @wastefreeplanet, @ourecofriendlylife, @lilycraft_blog to learn every day to avoid waste.
